Alfred had just got out of the shower and had changed into his night clothes when he suddenly heard a knock on the door."Coming!" He said, getting up from his couch and opened the front door. Outside, standing in the pouring rain, was Arthur. Alfred noticed how his friend was beginning to get soaked out there, so he quickly brought him inside."So ah, what brings you here?" He asked the older Brit. Arthur looked down at his feet for a moment, his green eyes swimming with-was that humiliation?! He finally spoke,"Well, y-you see, in the apartment complex I stay in there was a fire. They told us everyone living there needed to leave and go somewhere for a few weeks, while they rebuilt the one place that caught on fire." He continued, taking a breath." A-anyways, I was wondering if I could stay with you...until I could go back." When Alfred didn't answer, Arthur quickly hurried on,"I mean if its to much to ask I can ask Francis or someone like that..." Alfred quickly answered, grinning softly,"Of course you can stay! It's no trouble at all." Arthur smiled, relieve filling his face,"Good! Thank you so much Alfred. I'll go get my things from my car."
After the two had brought everything inside from the car, both were pretty soaked from the rain that was gradually coming down harder."Hey Arthur, I'm going to go get changed into dryer clothes. You can sleep in the guest bedroom tonight," he said, motioning to the room down the hall. Arthur nodded, before going into the room.
Later that night, Alfred said goodnight to Arthur before going to his own room. Outside, the storm raged on, lighting striking across the sky. Arthur climbed into bed and pulled the covers high up to his chin. Suddenly, thunder struck, making the whole house shake as rain poured down more heavily. The blonde Brit let out a little squeak of fear, pushing his face into the pillow. it's just rain. It's just rain. It's just rain he kept on telling himself...but it was no use. He was terrified. He had always been terrified of storms, no mater how small or big. Another loud BOOM from outside made him scream, pulling the blankets all the way over his head.
Alfred awoke from his light sleep when he suddenly heard a scream. He sat up in bed, listening. was that...Arthur?? he thought. After a few more moments of silence, he lay back down, about to fall back to sleep, when he heard the scream again, only louder this time. He threw off the covers and opened his door, running over to Arthur's room and opening his door quickly, expecting to see a kidnapper or burglar. What he saw was totally unexpected. There a shaking form lay, hidden away under the covers, whimpering softly."Arthur?" He whispered,"What's wrong? Are you okay?" He asked, walked towards the bed. Arthur poked his head out from under the blankets, his face full of fear, and he was- crying?! "Ah I-it's nothing." He said, his voice cracked. Alfred walked closer to the bed, until he was right besides his green eyed friend."No. Please tell me what's wrong?" As if an answer, lighting struck from outside, followed soon by a loud crash of thunder. Arthur screamed, his voice filled with fear, as he hid back under the covers."Oh. Are you scared of the thunder Iggy?" Alfred asked, laying a hand on his friends shoulder."N-no of course not!" Arthur said, his voice muffled by the blankets on top of him. After a few moments, Alfred wordlessly climbed into bed with his blonde friend. He lifted up the covers to cover up both of them, facing Arthur."W-what are you doing?" He asked, his cheeks still wet from tears. Alfred smiled, bringing up his hand and stroking the Brits cheek slowly with his thumb. "Well...when I was little and scared of the storm, my mother would always make me un afraid." He said softly. Arthur hiccuped,"W-what did she do?" He asked. Alfred scooted closer towards the other man, until they're body's were almost touching,"Well...first she would lay close to me." He said. Then, he put his arm over the Brit, and held his close to his chest. Arthur's eyes closed as he rested his chin on the Americans shoulder. His scent was all around him, making Arthur wanting to stay where he was forever. "And then...she would hold me and talk softly." Alfred said, his voice barely above a whisper. Arthur felt his body relaxing and his fears evaporating and Alfred began playing with his hair, stroking it softly."Until I finally...fell asleep." He said, kissing Arthur's cheek, before he finally fell asleep. Alfred kept on stroking Arthur's soft hair, staring into the sleeping face of the Brit. After snuggling close to him, Alfred slowly fell asleep soon afterwards, the storm still raging outside
